About Fly:
Fly is our little Swedish puppy from Skybar (Hanne Winninge), she is Co-Owned and lives with a lovely family, Sam and Shanda, who live about an hour away from us. They originally had reached out to us for a Bantam puppy, but after losing their sweet 14 year old, Boomer, we reached out to them to see if they were willing to import and co-own a puppy with us, as we had the perfect litter in mind - and the rest is history. She is Shanda's first show dog and will be a valuable asset to Bantam's breeding program, adding a pedigree of natural whelping bitches, great mothering instincts, overall good health and valuable structure, size and temperament that will complement and help form the foundation of Bantam's line. We are so very grateful to Hanne for trusting us to find the perfect home and bring her all the way across the pond, and we are beyond grateful to Shanda and Sam who have fallen head over heels for Fly. She was well worth the wait to get her here, she's got the sweetest temperament and is always happy to see anyone and everyone, friends and strangers alike! Just the week before she was scheduled to make the journey in March, the government closed borders to international travel, including pets as cargo, due to COVID-19. It wasn't until June that she finally had the opening, but had only 5 international airports to choose from and Denver was not one of them. So Fly made the trip across the pond as her wonderful parents also made the drive across the country to Chicago to meet her there and bring her all the way back home. We are so looking forward to what Fly brings to our program. She should mature to be correct in size. We can't wait!
What's in a name?
In Sweden, puppies are required to be registered by the breeder in alphabetical order, so since Hanne had already been through the alphabet with Tulip-themed litter, her next theme was BUGS! Fly is from the first, the A-Bug litter! The Azalea Whitefly is a bug that feeds on Azalea leaves, and it was given to Fly at birth for her all-white coloring. As for her call name (the following written by Shanda); In sticking with the theme of bugs we named her "Fly." We chose Fly due to the reference to the word Fly first recorded in 1805-1815 as a British slang adjective meaning alert; clever; sharp; to go swiftly. Fly certainly fits her personality when she zooms around swiftly, and cleverly opens a closed garbage bin! Nicknames to date include: Fly Baby and Flyster.
Achievements:
Fly is co-owned with a wonderful family, Sam and Shanda, who live about an hour away from us! We get to see her regularly and are looking forward to her sharing this adventure with them. Fly is Shanda's very first show dog! She will be exploring many new venues with Shanda by her side, likely diving into many new and exciting dog sports, too! We are looking forward to seeing what this team can do together!
